DESKY VYBORNY STAV
The title is Endless Boogie and that sums things up very well for this excellent album. Hooker is joined on most cuts by Steve Miller, who is, at heart a blues musician himself. And since we're talkin' 1971, Miller's playing was a lot truer to the blues than it would be in the mid and later years of the decade. What you end up with is 11 cuts of the real thing. The blues, the whole blues and nothing but the blues. My favorite tracks are the opener, "(I Got) A Good 'Un, "Pot's on, Gas On High", "I Don't Need No Steam Heat" and "Endless Boogie, Parts 27 and 28" which is a damn tasty all out blues jam. There's really not much else to say. The playing is great, John Lee's in excellent voice with soulful interpretation of they lyrics, and the production is also very good. "Pot's on, Gas on High" time to cook!
