first I like say something to Tovan, if you don't like Niemen's voice that you can mention it but not be so agressive about it, his voice is amazing, it's OK to express your opinion but it's not OK to keep putting someone down just because of your own dislike, try to keep it a bit down. Niemen went through a lot of grief in his life already. Let him rest in peace. Lastly, you don't have to listen to him if you hate his voice so much. There are many prog instrumentals. As for the album, it is one of my favorite ones, especially the title song Czlowiek Jam Niewdzieczny with it's fantastic music and one of the best vocal solos I have ever heard, this song showcases Czeslaw's voice at it's best. Powerful expressive, clear like a bell. Lyrics are also great. For those who don't undwrstand Polish, here is my translation, it lost it's poetry but will give and idea of what it's all about.
I am an ungrateful man".
Day after day, like a brisk stream
time tightens a circle of my existence.
Day runs away after day, further and further,
my ethereal desires' plot pales.
Around us Universe,
an unending fertile garden,
eternal thoughts' masterpiece!
I would like to give my respect to the sky,
bend my forehead low.
But I am an ungrateful man
and imperfect.
They feed themselves with nonsense,
wrapped with the net of ridiculous affairs.
I am ashamed for those who have no spirit,
who forgot about the ultimate end, the grave.
Niemen's last great album, or rather last of greatest, alongside Enigmatic. It's a perfect bit of music. A double album matching the greatest contemporaries from the west and even outranking some of them as in contrary to their works it is not overdone. If only people outside Poland and the eastern block had heard it... Niemen would've surely become one of the icons of progressive rock (or whatever you call it).
