The first track here is the one which kicks out the best jams. It starts off quite slow and gradually builds up like most of Xhol's tracks usually do. The combination of the sensual sax and the Soft Machine-like organ generate a very cool etheral atmoshphere which in a span of several minutes  accelerates towards the eventual groovy organ noodling which dominates the mid-section of the track, Mike Ratledge when he's smiling(really nice section), the sax picks up again and returns to similar motivs which the track started with(the tempo remains faster though). Unfortunately the track ends on some less interesting ground, as a rather chaotic formularic jam. 2/3 of the track is really fantastic.

"Schaukel" is much less impressive. The sax play in its starting state is very well executed, but rhytmically the band isn't doing anything innovative, it eventually ends in more free-jazz/jam territory, until the horrible bluesy "Rock Me Baby" with its tasteless, vulgar lyrics kicks in. The ending of the track is slightly better, but my overall impression of it is that it's rather pedestrian material. The 2002 version of this album also includes a  third bonus track with much better sound quality than on the original tracks. That track features a concetrated jazzy approach with sax, dual saxes, flute and more sax with several ups and downs like it usually is with Xhol's long tracks. A bit less atmospheric, but the track grooves pretty well in some parts, not bad at all.

Recorded in July, 1970, this, along with M..fer's gmbh, was originally intended for release as a dopple album (guess I've been reading a few too many German websites), but the idea was nixed by Ohr, who finally released both LP's as single albums in 1972. This one features two side-long jazz flavored improv's, with organ, sax, and wah-wah guitar. Grades - 1 B+, 1 B.

Here we find Xhol, as my imagination will have it mind you, in some smoky club in Hamburg, preferably on the Reeperbahn in the St. Pauli District. Organ and electric sax rule the roost here and no one gets to leave the club until they start seeing inanimate objects move. Psychedelic jazz blues is where it's at brudda'. The Garden of Delights CD is the way to go here since it introduces to the 20 minute bonus track 'Suden twi Westen'. This track was recorded in 1974 with Hansi Fisher (of Embryo) on flute and future Missus Beastly bassist Norman Domling. It's quite possibly the best piece Xhol ever did (and that's saying something!) and I didn't realize that Xhol were still active this late in the game. Highly recommended.
