Midnite Maniac is a good track
I like this cd because it delivers funny, goofy, guitar and scream-based hard rock. Guitar work on Balroom blitz or rock the nation (simple but cool flanger-driven intro riff) is pretty nice. Storace screams his ass off. Krokus may not be playing too hard, but at least they seem to be more original on this one, not being just ac/dc or Judas Priest clones once again
Perhaps slightly more commercial and cheesy -if that's possible- than the former LP (Headhunter), "The blitz" still ranks as an ok 80s' hard rock album, including the occasional pair of hits, which here come with 'Midnite maniac' and 'Ballroom blitz', explosive version of a 70s' hysterical Chinichap hit, popularized by The Sweet in its day, and re-popularized by Krokus here.
Quite despised, this album, which sounds a tad outdated, still is a fun piece of hair metal a la European, vitiated with all the cliches of its time and style, yet delivering some other compelling tracks, like 'Our love', 'Out of control' or the live (or live-ized?) anthem 'Ready to rock', which don't show any artistic challenge per se, this is just fun music, and it should be taken with the due indulgences.
