This is their best album in my humble opinion :)

It couldn't have been released on the 1st November as that was a Saturday and all new releases came out on Fridays, although I think it was definitely a November release. The unreliable Wikipedia reckoned it was released in September but I changed it. No doubt it will get changed back again though.

The first track of the album ("Chasing Shadows") sounds the same as the Afro-Caribbean band OSIBISA. I would not dare say it's a plagiarism of one or another but... who knows? Or who doubts? The rest of the record is just "regular" but nothing spectacular. I prefer other later works of DP.

Only 300-500 copies were initially pressed without the EMI box on label. Later 1969 copies were identical (and are still considered first copies) but the EMI logo was in a box on the label (9 o'clock).

This is my favorite Deep Purple album. I love every track. My favorite track is April. Have had this album in pristine condition since I purchased it in 1970. Have played the album only 2 or 3 times. Every track is perfect with no flaws. Looks like it just came off of the E.M.I. / Harvest production line. I added a protective sleeve for the album which is much better than the sleeve it came with.
