This is superb blues stuff, with great sound on this (old original) copy. Canned heat at its best.
This is a collection of recordings from 1966 of the band in their formative stage just before their first album. The line up is the same as the first album also, Alan Wilson, Bob Hite, Larry Taylor, Henry Vestine, and Frank Cook, and the song selection is similar too....
1 ~ Spoonful
2 ~ Big Road Blues
3 ~ Rollin' and Tumblin' (without harmonica)
4 ~ Got My Mojo Working
5 ~ Pretty Thing
6 ~ Louise
7 ~ Dimples
8 ~ Can't Hold On Much Longer
9 ~ Straight Ahead
10 ~ Rollin' and Tumblin' (with harmonica)
The album is good and it is interesting to hear the band in their early stage but this is nothing essential to the Canned Heat legacy. But they still play well together and do great covers of all the old blues songs on the album. Get this when you have all the studio/live albums they put out, a great listen though.
